Myrtle Waves Water Park Top Tips From an Annual Passholder

Updated: Jul 3

When the humidity turns it up to an 11, we are so grateful we decided to snag annual passes to this water park that's perfect for all ages.

Post updated on July 3, 2024

We have been heading to Myrtle Waves, located right across the street from Broadway at the Beach, since Skyela and Holden were toddlers - sometimes with annual passes, sometimes going during discounted days. It's impossible not to like this water park that has a wide range of attractions, friendly staff, and several ways to stay cool during the sweltering summer months.

You can combine the water park pass with sister park Broadway Grand Prix, and you can also get weekly passes which is an amazing value.

Here are some top tips for visiting Myrtle Waves from our family to yours.

tip #1 TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BLACK FRIDAY DEALS

Last year on Black Friday you could snag the "Race & Splash Pass" for Myrtle Waves and Broadway Grand Prix for a total of $149.99. The normal prices for these passes are $119.99 and $149.99, respectively, so you are saving a ton of money by taking advantage of these prices. (And the Broadway Grand Prix pass is good through Dec. 31!) You can also opt to add the Flow Rider at Myrtle Waves for $30 for the season, which is the only water attraction that has an additional cost and is usually $9.99 per day.

tip #2 go to the park early... or late

We got to the park at 10:45 and people were already lined up for the 11 a.m. opening time. By the time we got in, all of the seats under the big umbrellas were already gone. We still got good seats by the wave pool and, most importantly, got on Arooba Tooba, Rockin' Ray, and Snake Mountain (the attractions with the longest lines) within the first 30 minutes of the day.

The best deal outside of Black Friday is on Friday evenings. With the Family Friday Fun special, you can get in the park after 3 p.m. for just $21.99. Myrtle Waves also has discounted "Twilight Hours" 3 hours before park closing daily. The lines tend to slow up a bit during the end of the day so you can typically get a lot done before the sun goes down.

tip #3 height matters so plan accordingly

Most of the attractions at Myrtle Waves have a 42" height requirement with the exception of Rockin' Ray which is 48" and the Lazy River which is 36." In 2024, Myrtle Waves added the Wild Water Racer mat slide which has a 42" height requirement.

Our experience at the park was very different before our kids hit 42." Back then we spent most of our time in Bubble Bay and Saturation Station play areas along with the wave pool and lazy river. It was also actually more relaxing as it involved a lot of sitting and watching the kids splash around. Now we are full on from the minute we get there hitting up all the slides.

If you have different height levels in your party, you may need to divide and conquer, at least for part of the day.

tip #4 hold onto your shoes... and sunglasses... and hats...

The ground gets extremely hot at Myrtle Waves and you are allowed to wear water shoes around the park. And you are allowed to take them with you on the rides. You just need to hold them in your hands while you ride. So if you're wearing water shoes and sunglasses and a baseball cap, you will have your hands full!

tip #5 the souvenir cup is worth it

We very rarely get a souvenir cup but the $12.99 souvenir cup (or 2 for $11.99 or 3 or more for $9.99) has refills for $1.50 plus tax and it's good at Myrtle Waves and Broadway Grand Prix. During Black Friday, they also offered a special unlimited refill mug for $29.99. And when you are super duper hot, a freezing cold Sprite just hits different than that water you've been chugging.

The Bottom Line

While we love the awesome water slides, some of our favorite moments at Myrtle Waves involve just bobbing around in the wave pool or floating along the lazy river together. There's never a line and you have time to talk, laugh, and make some great memories with your team.
