NHOP National House of Pancakes Lives Up to the Hype

NHOP located in the heart of Myrtle Beach boasts the most viral breakfast and brunch options in the area, and the Instagrammable meals are also super delish.

When we were invited to dine at NHOP, which is located at 211 N Kings Hwy, we were so pumped because the menu items we've seen on Instagram and TikTok looked LEGIT. We also wondered - would the food actually taste as good as it looked?

We're happy to report that the answer is a resounding yes. Their website describes NHOP's menu as "hearty food, made from scratch the way your grandma would do it." Our grandmas have made some delicious dishes, but none that look this cool.

The vibe is a mashup of retro and modern with big, bright green booths, wood floors and tables, cool ambient lighting, and Instagrammable neon signs that say things like "I flipping love you." The knowledgeable staff contributes to the welcoming, relaxing, and cozy ambiance. (Shout out to our server Liz!)

What's On the Menu

NHOP is known, of course, for their pancakes, and one stands above the rest. The 3 Nutella pancakes served with fresh strawberries and bananas ($26.99) were airy, soft, and flavorful - and absolutely covered in fresh toppings. You'll need to share this one.

It was hard to choose a waffle with options like a churro waffle ($23.98), waffle and chicken ($26.99), and waffle and ice cream ($23.89). The picture on the menu of the red velvet waffle ($26.89) sold us. The house-made vanilla drizzle, dollop of strawberry cream cheese, and fresh fruit complemented the absolutely heavenly waffle.

We also tried the crab cake benedict ($29.93), featuring two lump crab cakes served on an English muffin with grilled tomato slices, topped with 2 poached eggs, Hollandaise, drizzled with Cajun remoulade sauce, served with grits or home fries on the side (we liked both but the home fries were our fave).

We liked the benedict, but the crab showstopper was the crab meat omelet ($35.99) which included generous portions of lump crabmeat and sautéed shrimp, topped with feta and homemade remoulade. All of NHOP's omelets are made with 5 eggs and served with grits, home fries, or pancakes. It's a massive meal that two can split.

Every kid gets cotton candy at the end of the meal, which is such a fun touch!

the best brunch drinks ever

The Drunk Bear Mimosa ($25.99) is easily the coolest looking and freshest tasting brunch drink we've ever encountered in the area. You get a little bear container filled with 100% orange juice or 100% pineapple juice (or mix both) and a little bottle of Prosecco served alongside a cored out pineapple and full plate of fresh fruit.

Another adult beverage we liked even more was the Bloody Mary Crab Absolut ($24.75), which is served with six big slices of bacon, jalapenos, and a full crab leg.

Kids will love the Famous Milkshake ($24.94) featuring locally made ice cream and Willy Wonka Hot Chocolate ($14.98) made with Ghirardelli cocoa.

The Bottom Line

The kids cannot stop talking about how much fun they had at NHOP and are already asking when we can go back. Is it pricey? Yes. Is the food delicious? Also yes. We highly recommend coming here when you want to indulge or celebrate. And if the price tag deters you, share some dishes with your fam or friends. Another bonus - the leftovers still taste amazing.

The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Monday - Friday and 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online or by calling 843-448-6149.
