rosewood rendezvous is our favorite hipcamp tiny cabin in south carolina

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

One of the best Hipcamp experiences in the state is located in Winnsboro, SC, with triple bunk beds, kayaks, farm animals, acres of land to explore, and more.

When we look for places to stay on Hipcamp, we gravitate to the "glamping" options because we like to experience nature but also be able to roll up and have everything we need already there. Last year, we found Rosewood Rendezvous, a tiny cabin located at Rosewood Farm and Agripark in Winnsboro, SC. We knew immediately that it would become a spot we would revisit again and again.

The rustic cabin exudes southern charm. It comfortably sleeps 5 and is pet friendly, so we were able to bring our new pup Gonzo along. The cabin includes a double bed and triple bunk bed, each with their own cubbies with outlets to keep electronics charged. The cabin comes stocked with bedding, towels, fridge, microwave, hot plate, coffee maker and coffee, heat and AC units, plates, cups, cutlery, firewood, and grill.

There's also a sink in the kitchen area along with a bathroom with a toilet and shower. The cabin was predominantly built with wood from the owners' sawmill that came from our farm, and there's a beautiful cedar counter.

The tiny cabin is the only Hipcamp location on the property so it's very private. There are kayaks available to use on the pond along with life jackets. There's also another larger pond with a dock within walking/driving distance of the cabin. Campers are welcome to catch bass, bream, and catfish.

The cabin is surrounded by 200 acres of forest and pastures. Gonzo loved our strolls around the property, and we loved walking over to the farm to say hello to the animals. Horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, peacocks, and a rooster populate the farm. Katie is happy to share her expansive knowledge about the animals, and she gave us apples and carrots to feed the horses and donkeys - along with fresh eggs for our breakfast.

The highlight of the trip was getting to hold triplet baby goats born the day we were there, and Katie was kind enough to text us to make sure we met them. Several animals have been featured in films, TV shows, and commercials, so be sure to ask Katie for some fun stories about their experiences.

exploring the area

Rosewood Rendezvous is located 15 miles from Lake Wateree State Park, 17 miles from Chester State Park, and 26 miles from Sesquicentennial State Park (which is basically in Columbia). We spent a day at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia (vlog coming soon!), and obviously there's so much to do in the state's capital, and it's very easy to do a day trip. However, once we pull off the highway and drive the 2 miles back to the cabin the kids don't want to leave.

how to book

For a Friday evening in June, the rate is $80 plus a $10 cleaning fee. The cabin can be booked through Hipcamp.
