The Best Spooky Season Activities In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2024

Spooky season is our favorite season in the Myrtle Beach area - so we want to share our favorite local Halloween haunts. Let's boo this!

Halloween Kickoff Party: Tuesday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m. Halloween Movie Nights: Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25 & 31

Halloween Pickleball Tournament: Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m.

Dive In Movie Night: Saturday, Oct. 12

Dead by Dawn Haunted Theatre: Oct. 18-Oct. 31, starting at 8 p.m.

Conway Ghost Walk: Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 16-19

Haunted Hustle: Saturday, Oct. 19, 7 a.m

Halloween Golf Cart & CCU Homecoming Parade: Saturday, Oct. 19, 9:30 a.m. Halloween Horror Disc Golf Tournament: Saturday, Oct. 19, 6 p.m.

Monster Mash on Mill Pond: Saturday, Oct. 26, 5 p.m.

During the month of October Conway, SC officially transforms into in Halloween, SC. The City of Conway loads up on the events calendar for October, truly transforming into a must-see destination for Halloween lovers. Check out the incredible decorations around downtown including hundreds of pumpkins hanging from the trees along Main Street. The town is also hosting a new kickoff party on Oct. 1 with a costume march and contest and concert on the Town Green. There will also be a golf cart parade and CCU Homecoming parade on Oct. 19. In 2024, there will be a "Haunted Hustle" 1-mile, 5K, and 10K runs with glow in the dark medals for those who complete it. The races will start and finish at the beautiful marina situated right downtown along the Waccamaw river and take you through a beautiful route downtown. Theatre of the Republic has Evil Dead the Musical going on and a brand new Dead by Dawn Haunted Theatre experience. This chilling walk-through in what's typically off limits, you will go backstage, upstairs and through agonizing hallways that will have you second-guessing to ever come into our gruesome theatre ever again. Tickets are $25 sold at the door. Conway Downtown Alive will present the Conway Ghost Walk. Professional storytellers weave tales of lowcountry haints through the shadowy streets of downtown. Stories begin each evening at 6 p.m., the tour has six stops, and the route is approximately 1 mile. Movie nights will take place throughout October on The Terrace, and you can enjoy a Dive-In Movie Night (Jaws, of course) at the Conway Sports and Fitness Center indoor pool.


2. thompson farm fALL FUN & Flashlight fridays

Flashlight Fridays 2024: every Friday in October, gates open at 5 p.m.

Halloween Helicopter Candy Drop 2024: Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m.

Is there anything better during autumn than Flashlight Fridays and Drive-In Movies at Thompson Farm? This is one of our all-time favorite family traditions. Gates open at 5 p.m. for Flashlight Fridays, where families can enjoy Norma’s Play Area with loads of activities, the 6.5 acre corn maze, food trucks, and more. You can bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy the featured movie (think favorites like Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown every weekend), from inside the farm. Flashlights, coffee, hot cider, and s’mores kits are available for sale. We always opt for the Drive-In Movie, which requires advanced tickets that can be purchased only on the website. Grab them early because they will sell out. The movie begins at dusk. This year, Thompson Farm will also host a Halloween Helicopter Candy Drop. Families can spend the day on the farm enjoying the 6-acre play area, corn maze, animal feedings, petting zoo, hay wagon rides, and watch the show at 4 p.m. as a helicopter flies over and drops over 15,000 festive "Pumpkin Seeds" out of the sky filled with Halloween treats and candy.


3. brookgreen gardens Harvest Home Weekend and imagination walk

Harvest Home Weekend 2023: Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 5-6, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Children's Imagination Walk 2023: Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Brookgreen Gardens is our favorite spot to visit year-round, and they host two awesome family friendly weekend events in October. During Harvest Home Weekend, you can enjoy crafts, food trucks, live music, and build (and take home) scarecrows! Individually prepared kits are available, or bring your own clothing to use! For $7, you can take your Scarecrow home. The pumpkin patch and scarecrow building are always a family favorite, and younger children will enjoy the hay maze. Pumpkin decorating is also available ($5 for small pumpkins, $9 for large). During the Children's Imagination Walk. Pick up your scavenger hunt map next to Keepsakes, The Brookgreen Museum Shop, and follow the enchanting path through the garden. Along the way, you’ll discover new activities, including Magical Creature Mask-Making, where you can create your mythical masks, and Potion-Making, where you’ll brew glowing “potions." Don’t miss the Pumpkin Painting station, where kids can unleash their creativity on mini pumpkins, or the Wishing Tree. Storytime will be provided by the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library. They year they will introduce a Face Painting station, where you can transform into your favorite character or animal before heading out on your adventure. This annual event is catered for children 3-12 years old, but all ages are welcome. Both events are included with garden admission.


4. Fall Fun and Fright Nights at Southern Palmetto Farms

Fright Nights 2024: Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7-10 p.m.

Family fall fun at Southern Palmetto Farms kicks off on Sept. 28. Enjoy the massive Corn Maze, the Mini Cotton Maze, and a huge play area featuring big slides and a jump pad. Take a wagon ride through the farm and meet friendly critters at Farm Animal Alley. You can also check out the Pumpkin Patch. During Fright Nights, older kiddos and adults can take a super spooky journey through the Wicked Woods where dusty tombs and swamp lands of gators, ghosts, and more await your arrival. If you make it to Field Of Screams, you just must find your way through a maze of terror.


5. Hocus pocus halloween breakfast at the hangout

Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 and 10 a.m.

Get ready for a Hocus Pocus morning at this Halloween Breakfast Bash! Join The Hangout for a villainous fun-filled event featuring a costume contest, Halloween-themed music, and a classic Halloween movie on the big screen. Families will love the foam party, where kids can dance in the bubbles while enjoying Halloween games and activities. Plus, don’t miss out on the sweetest part of the day – candy galore! To top it all off, there will be a special meet & greet with The Sanderson Sisters. The All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast includes a platter of Biscuits & Gravy, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage & Breakfast Potatoes. For an additional charge, there will be specials for french toast, pancakes, fruit plates. We can vouch - it's delicious. This is $19.99 for adults, $8.99 for kids 6-10, and free for kids under 5. 6. Halloween on the MarshWalk

Tuesday, Oct. 31, 5 p.m.

The Marshwalk’s longest running event, Halloween on the MarshWalk brings fun and prizes to the whole family. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with trick-or-treating for the kids. All eight restaurants have food and drink specials. The annual Children’s Costume Contest is at 6 p.m. in front of Drunken Jack’s at the Pirate Statue. Prizes will be awarded for the Most Creative, Best Group, Funniest, and Scariest prizes for kids ages 3 and up. Kids 2 and under will compete for the Awes Applause award. Prizes include trophies, ribbons, and candy bags. The Adult Costume Contest begins at 7 p.m. with over $4,000 in cash and prizes. Categories include Best Duo, Best Group, Best Individual, Most Creative, Big & Bulky, Murrells Inlet Themed and Honorable Mention.


7. Halloween boonanza at North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

Saturday, Oct. 26, 5-8 p.m.

The City of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University’s Leadership class, converts the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex into a spooktacular site for an array of Halloween fun during the BOOnanza. Activities include magic shows, marshmallow roasting, games, inflatables, trick-or-treating, and more. Ages 3 and up are $5 and kids under 2 are free.
